There were two Jane Thomases ... I'm the shorter one!! I grew up in Pembroke Main Street where my father, Tony Thomas, was an auctioneer and estate agent. Loved Pembroke Grammar School which became The Comp while I was there and I have fond memories of many of the teaching staff.... Mr Sabido would, I am sure, be delighted to know that I have never forgotten "Trap Air - Trap Heat"!! Also very grateful to him for giving his time to organizing School Socials, Bush House Socials, Film Club etc. Other staff I especially remember are Mansel Thomas, Johnny Harries, Clicker, David Ladd, Julian Jones and Harry Edwards. They all tried their best but they were up against it with me I'm afraid! I still have a copy of The Penvro somewhere with a poem I wrote in it.
I am married to Martin Jones (who was a Bush House Boy!) although we didn't know each other in school.

I entered P. G .S. in 1961 and along with many of my contemporaries did not take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered, however, didn’t totally waste my time managing to ‘major’ in socialising and sport. Went on to Caerleon College where pleasurable activities continued to take precedence over the next three years’. Suddenly woke up and realised that I had to work for a living; decided to do missionary work in England, thus settled in Essex where I taught in Secondary Education for thirty three years. Married a fellow teacher and been living ‘happily ever after’ with two children, one a teacher and the other a fashion designer. Took early retirement in 2005, I am currently working part-time as an Educational Consultant. Returned to Pembroke in July 2008 and quickly settled into the exacting pace of Pembrokeshire life. Along with several other ‘old’ friends we are currently organsing a reunion for the ‘class of 61’ 29th May 2010 details of which can be found in the Penvro Social Events Section.

Great credit to the dedicated band of volunteer "pioneers" who must be putting in an enormous amount of time to create such an excellent resource. It was quite nostalgic looking back over some 56 years of history. They were certainly good times and in Pembroke Dock, with its Pembroke offshoot and villages hinter land, we had a quite extraordinary community made up of some fantastic forward looking and caring people. The School, in part, reflected this.I certainly found that the people in PD gave me a bed rock of values to take with me through life.I have returned every year since with my family and now have a base in the area. There is still a certain magic in the air!

Always welcome contact with old friends. csmorgan@tiscali.co.uk

Keep bumping into PD folk in the most unexoected places!!

Good luck to you all.

Chris Morgan

Brilliant site, does it ever roll back the years!

Neither scholar nor sportsman was I at school which I now regret having achieved a little success in both since joining the army; it's amazing how much incentive can be generated by a Brigade of Guards Sergeant Major's size 12 destined for your nether regions.

I left PGS on (about) 15 Jul 65 with Dai Davies, we declared UDI and sat in Rm 17, our formroom (the lovely Kitty Howells was our form mistress) and wrote on the board "Moogy and Dai smoked their last fags in PGS on this day", how wild and daring was that! Of course the school was empty apart from the cleaners who told us off. I think Dai went off to North Wales with his parents and I went to work on a farm with the intention of heading for Golden Grove farming college between Carmarthen and Llandeilo. The army got to me first and I joined as an apprentice tradesman (mechanic)in REME on 10 May 1966, and was de-mobbed as a captain in Mar 1996. On my reports it said "men will follow this officer anywhere.....but only out of sheer curiosity!"

I had a great time, met lots of people and went to some wonderful places in the world. Met Ralph Fella in a bar in Hong Kong in 1980 and Roger Jones (Roger Baker's vintage)in his club on the outskirts of Nairobi. 2 tours of NI, Dustmen's and Firemen's strikes, Cyprus in '74 after the Turks invaded helping the refugees from the north and the first Gulf war. QED. That's the only maths I remember, apart quadratic equations which I never figured out what they are for!!

I have 2 lovely girls and 3equally lovely granddaughters but no wife. I'm a civil servant working at the Royal School of Signals here in Dorset which is a bit like home from home as it is much like Pembrokeshire.

First 19 years seldom out of the County; next 37 seldom in it- for more than a few days at a time. Many years under the 'bridge' and forever gone, but two constants remain: Love of Pembroke; and the greatest affection and gratitude to staff and friends at Pembroke Grammar School.

Primary education at Lamphey CP School and then entered Pembroke Grammar in 1959. On leaving Pembroke went to Langham Secretarial College, London where on completion of Diploma worked for Foster Wheeler in London and then Trust House Hotels in their Head Office in London. Married Richard Davies (Civil Engineer) in 1970 and spent until 2008 living/working in Iraq; Indonesia; Bangladesh; Pakistan; Iran; Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan and lastly Australia. Our daughter works and lives in Cambridge and our son works in Singapore. Richard is now retired so hoping to get used to living in UK again!
Really enjoying the site and congratulate you on getting it up and running. I have asked my brother, Michael Green to look at the site and see if he can also identify some of the people on the school photo relating to his year.
Keep up the good work

After a career in the aviation industry I am retired and living in a village 20 miles west of Glasgow.
I notice that, with the exception of Brian Bowen, there are not too many guests of my vintage in the Guestbook. I wish the new website all the success it deserves. It's a great idea.

Fabulous to see how many faces I recognise on the photo's, spotted my sister Pat Waite on hers first in 1956 I think. Didn't think I'd be up for reunions and stuff but having had such fun looking at the photo's and reading the Guestbook I have changed my mind and think it would be great to see everyone.
