Thanks Gwen. I had assumed - wrongly- that Tony had purchased the tree long ago, and had it planted there as some kind of token of appreciation. It is a beautiful tree. Yvonne in Leicestershire.

Yvonne "our acer" in the Grasmere Garden Centre is a beautiful tree which Tony photographs several times a year, as its colours are spectacular in every season. It has made reglalr appearances on the CAM over many years. Gwen, south coast NSW

I read you comments and love your photos every day - so all is truly appreciated. BUT what is the meaning of 'our acer' in the garden centre. Have I missed something from way back?? Best regards Yvonne in Leicestershire

Every time there are pictures of Penrith I blow then up and look for even a tiny bit of the Toffee Shop showing. Almost worth the airfare alone. Soon!! Very Soon.

Hi Tony, thank you for giving us a window into your beautiful world. I have been a fan for many years. I have question about advertising on your site. My debut book, Favoured by Fortune, which is an historical suspense novel is being published in August by Phase Publishing, LLC, Seattle, Washington, USA. It is set in the 1760’s primarily in Rosthwaite, Chagford in Devon and Spitalfields in London. The second volume of the story, Face of Fortune is set for release in the beginning of 2020. I am planning more books in a series called, Shadows of Rosthwaite.
Anyway, just wondering what your rates are for advertising. Thanks so much, Colleen Kelly-Eiding, colkel50@aol.com

A very happy birthday to Sir Ben! He may be an old man in dog years, but today he's swimming like the teenager he's just become!

The message from the woman in Kingston Ont about no public transport in Canada is so wrong. There are buses both local and long distance. There is a cross country train and trains between some of the major cities and of course planes (short runs or cross/up country etc), andbike lanes in many of the cities. Three of my friends have no cars and go all sorts of places.

Hello Tony, I see your well planned journey didn't quite go to schedule. This happened to us too on our well planned and researched trip from Glasgow to Dorking. Once the British rail service was so reliable. Sadly I think many travellers now have their plans put into disarray. Our wonderful planned return trip via Manchester, on express trains, booked seats 1st class, became a slow rackety old train to Edinburgh instead, no 1st class seats. On the trip from Edinburgh to Glasgow we had to hold a pile of empty alcohol bottles kindly left on the table of the only seats available (!) - there was no bin to put these in. Glad you at least could see some engines. Gwen, south coast NSW
