I left Pembroke Grammar School in July 1971 went to Cardiff University for 4 years and returned to teach in my 'old' school which had then become a comprehensive. Like a lot of ex pupils I started my education at Albion Square School. I had a great time there but an even better time at Bush because I loved sports especially hockey, not the best player in the world but I certainly enjoyed it.My nickname was Squirt from start to finish, though to this day i still wonder why.My husband Brian was also an Ex pupil of Albion and Bush and he started in 1956 and he also loved sports and was a member of the Rugby Team. It is good to see the loyalty which so many former pupils feel towards the school. I also grateful for the many mentions on this website of my father's time as headmaster. I feel a bit of a fraud because I was only at the school for one year before being shipped off to boarding school. But I still remember my brief time at PGS with affection.

My sisters Janet and Susan, and brother Dave (the first 'Footy'), were also pupils. School was great, especially strumming guitars on the banks. Seriously, it was a superb school, Pembroke was a fantastic place to grow up and the Web Page is brilliant!

The photos on the website have brought back many happy memories. I was especially pleased to have news of Islwyn Griffiths. I was in touch with him for a while but lost contact when we last moved. I was one his A level Welsh students and he was influential in starting me on my teaching career in primary schools in East London.

Looking at the site photos of the school makes me realise how lucky we were at PGS.

Yes I remember it well.I spent most of my time trying to avoid lessons, as some of you could well remember. It wasn't until about 1987 that I regretted not spending more time learning. I returned as a part time pupil ( with the kids... they thought I was an education authority spy) in the Comprehensive school to pass the 5 GCSE's that I needed to attend Trinity College Carmarthen where I gained a long overdue BA. I am still in touch with some of my classmates and it was good to see them in the photograph.
