Does anyone out there that was in VR-8 at Hickam AFB have any pictures of the nose dock area and the squadron living area? Include the old coffee shop at the end of the nose dock area. Thanks for your response. Please e-mail them to me if possible or shoot me an e-mail for my address.

The only name I recognized was Craig Ulrich. Sorry to hear about the cancer, Sure hope it stays in remission. I keep up with the agent orange, and was screened. So far so good. Some of the ones that I knew of their whereabouts were Charlie Royer, And Bob Barnum. Charlie was living around Visalia, Ca, and Barney was living in Irvine, Ca., and was a co pilot with TA or ATA something like that.

Very glad to find this site and info about VR-3. While serving as the Chief Navigator of VR-3, I also was the editor of the 1964 VR-3 Cruise Book that recorded our transition to the C-130. I am initiating action to donate a copy of it to the Naval Aviation Museum, and to get some other record of VR-3's history into the Naval Aviation Museum. My years in VR-3 were among the best years of my life.

I would like to wish all my old shipmates and all MATS personnel a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I would also like to pass on a bit of information. If you flew in and out of Vietnam make sure you get check ups for cancer as I had a case of Penumia and when they did a CAT scan they found a nodule that turned out to be Cancer and was traced back to Agent Orange as the cause. Looks like the surgery and radiation treatments have put me in remission for now. So please each and everyone of you get checked as it seems I caught this early enough to hold it at bay for awhile.
The wife and I are going to try and make the next Re-union so please lets us know when and where it will be.
Again to one and all Happy Holidays to you.

Served at Moffet from July 59 thru August 61, discharged AT-2. It was a great learning experience for a youg guy. The electronics training enabled me to go on to a career in the computer world. I remember some great squadron parties at the ACEY-DUCEY club.

I am sorry that my father and I missed this years' reunion - we had planned on it and then thought (much to his dismay) we would pick it up next year.....he started the fight against cancer (his third round of lung cancer) in March and early October thought he better cancel our reservations.... He passed away Tuesday, October 30th.
I am very thankful for the time i spent with him in Tucson meeting all of you and hearing about the history and seeing a different side of my father. I know he really wanted to make it back east this year but the cancer kicked him one last time.
God Bless all of you and your families and thank you for your memories. It was my pleasure to meet you all.
Sincerely, Tracey Kelly Lenocker daughter of John Robert Kelly of Groveland, CA.

Spent two of the greatest years (all of 59-60) of my life on the flight line with VR-7. Was in Operation Big Slam and accumulated about 2000 hours flight time...but was too stupid to take my logbook with me. Still miss some of my friends, like Yogi and the great Captain Campbell. Almost 5000 hours as pilot of my own plane (Bonanza) now and still have Connie pictures all over my office.
Good luck to you all and thanks for the memories.

The info on VR-7 states that it was restablished in November 1946. I was flown from Moffitt Field, California, to NAS Agana, Guam, on an R5D in July 1946. We had stops in Hawaii, Johnston, and Kwajalein Islands before our Guam touchdown. All of our buildings were quonset huts with plywood decks which were required to be oiled to deter the termites. The oiled decks and whites were not compatible. I was a YN3. One of my duties was Mast yeoman.
