Bob I have been following your web pages since the vary first time you crossed over into Indiana. Not a horse person, just interested in how one can take on such an adventure! have thought several times I might make the effort to findyou 0on our Indiana roads as I am pretty near central in the norhtern 1/3 of the state, a town called Kokomo !! but times just have not panned out for me. We were mighty close whenyour were crossing from In into Mich. going N, we were on our way wiht our 5th wheel to the Bruce Pensula of Ontario to visit Canadian freinds. Again this winter we will be headed SOUTH but are not SnoBirds but rather "Winter Texans". So it is hard for me to understand why you would go west NOT South. rest assured I too do and will be looking in on your web site more than once a day lookin to see what is new with You.
If I read it normally is Military thrillers but have read some other adventurous things like a book about a father who set his 18 yr old daughter on a trip Sailing ALONE around the world writting and selling articals on sailing to pay her way. left NY harbor at age 18 arriving back to much fanfare at age 21. or abook by author Steven Koontz who did 2 cross country trips flying a 1940 Stearman Bi-wing So now I will be adding your experiances to that list of mine!
I mention your trek/web page to many. Here IN indiana I do know that my dad had experianced reins around his neck to some degree plowing and we are not Amish either. He lived from an experiance like that, steel wheeled tractors to micro waves, space shots and more So I hope I can see changes of that sort also. NOT BHO kind of "Change" !! can you imagine how an UN-American name like that can get in there OOPs !! sorry I best get off that !! ALL the luck you Need on this next "Trip" TO You !!

Patiently Waiting

Comments:

Good evening, Bob. So good to see Clementine peeking out of her blanky on this cool fall evening. Our little chihuahua, Amber, loves hers. And ours (which she also claims as hers). LOL. I told you the weather would start getting nippy about this time of the month. In fact, unless one unexpectedly crops up, there was no Indian Summer to give us a few warm days this year. Just Summer, Fall and Winter trying hard to squeeze in. As Clementine watches you, my little girl has decided to check up on me. She figures it is bed time and I am still pecking away on this annoying thing. Enjoy your remaining days in Indiana. I do hope you graze by us on your way south. If not, I will patiently wait. Someday we will make those connections. In the meantime, I will enjoy your travels in my warm, cozy home. God bless you all. Sue

I drive small truck to Washington In. Icame across you out side of Martinsville and was so glad to see you out again. I looked for you every day i drove to see how you were doing. I got your websight and traveled with you. I wish i could live out my dream like you are doing. I will be tracking you. Keep up the reporting. JIM

Hi, Bob:

I'm keeping it short today - I just want to say that it's truly wonderful to see Doc again! I think we all felt like we came to know your first team by reading about your journey and it brought tears to my eyes to see pictures of him again and know that he is back with the friend he trusts most in the world.

May God keep your journey safe and full of wonderful people all along the way.

Thanks for the wonderful pictures! Take care and God Bless you and your furry family!

Hi Bob!

Just want you to know that we hope all goes well on your next planned trip. We didn't actually get to meet you, but we did take pictures of your horses and wagon when you were parked along Highway 57 in Glezen, Indiana. I guess you were eating lunch at the Village Inn restaruant. I wish now that we had went inside the restaurant to meet you. I don't remember what month it was, but it was just prior to the accident. We were saddened to hear about the accident and the loss of 2 of your horses. I (Holly), love horses, as my ex-husband and I use to raise miniature horses. :-) I have pictures of your team if you would like me to e-mail them to you. Have a safe trip!

Sincerely,
Tom and Holly Goodge

Have been following your story since you came through our area. Best wishes with all that you do and hope you enjoy your journey when you are able to get back on the road. I have just started learning to drive my welsh pony on a two wheeled cart and it enhances my appreciation of what you are doing. Driving is alot harder for me than riding, I can't imagine it with a 3 up or 4 up team!!! Again good luck.

Hooray! Doc is right where he wants to be. He looks so happy and content. I truly believe that animals try so hard to communicate their feelings and we sometimes don't really listen. He, unlike Joyce, was not ready for a change in his career. He is still young and stromg with a lot of energy. I really think that he likes the challenge. You go Doc!!!!!!

Read about you in the Ionia Sentinel Standard newspaper. I work with Dianne Sheaffer so I try to keep track of you thru her. Sounds like a very interesting journey. Will keep track of your journey on the web. Have a great trip. Wish I could be along with you.

I am Joyce's new owner

Comments:

Hi Bob,
I have finally gotton time to get updated on your travels. I am very glad that your trips are going well. I hadn't seen that picture of Joyce and I yet, it turned out great. She is adapting to her new life of ease very well. She runs all the boys at the barn, as she is the only mare. The hardest thing she has to do now is the CMO events and after some conditioning it is getting easier for her. She is still figuring out how to navigate the hills. She doesn't really like going up. Her weight has been tricky, but I think we finally have it figured it out. I have gotten her harness back from an Amish guy. He did a great job repairing it. So now I am on the hunt for a cart we can have her pull us around in, just for fun. I absolutely love having her and thanks for letting me adopt her. If you ever come our way be sure to stop in and see us. Denise

Comments:

Hello !Your story caught my eye as I was reading, The Farm & Show Papper. My step brother said I would like it. He was right. My husband and I have a hobby Farm we have Draft Horses, All breeds. The horses are our children. I use to show them at fairs. But I'm in a electric wheelchair now. But I still love my big boy's and girl's. In 2001 we had a barn firer and lost 8 head of Draft Horse's.We where not going to start over. But like you after your accident. Our life seem so empty that now we have a barn and 8 new children.I tell everyone that this is a retiredment farm for horses. Our smalls is a 1500lb Red Roan Mare and our biggest is a 2200 lb Dapple Grey Percheron.Thank-You for letting us read about your traveling trip. Signed speedybugmama - Knox, Pa.

I was thrilled to see the picture of Joyce and seeing her doing so well. I loved that mare and was so grateful that she survived the accident. She and Doc were the best of your 4 horse team. She was steady and unflappable and by standing still she prevented an accident from happening when Dolly freaked out. It was love from then on for me and Joyce. I would love to have Denise in Illinois get in touch with me so that I could keep in touch with the mare. She sure looks good and it is very evident that she is enjoying herself with her new owner. I'm thrilled for the two ladies!! Thanks JB

Hi, Bob:

I just checked out your latest blog, or should I say Bob the horse's last blog and it really put a smile on my face. Boy, you just never know what these furry creatures are going to "say", huh? That was adorable! He and Bill really look happy to be enjoying some rest and relaxation between trips and this will be a nice long rest for them before the next journey - I'll bet their eyes were wide with excitement to see all of that wonderful stuff to munch on in the field! They look like happy guys! Poor Clementine - she must have been very disgruntled about that trap. I'll also bet she won't go anywhere near that thing again, poor girl!

I'm so glad to know that you're taking a break to write, too. You have a talent for writing and it's wonderful that you're sharing that with all of us by taking us along on your journey and also by writing books that we can have an opportunity to purchase and read. Are you planning on autographing the books? That would be cool.

Enjoy your creative time and be careful not to wait until the weather gets too cold before you venture out again - we'll all be worried about you and the lads getting caught in a blizzard somewhere.

Take care and God Bless you and your furry friends. Oh, it was great to see Doc in a recent picture, too - I'll bet he was so glad to see you!!

Stay safe and as always, thank you for taking us all along on your amazing journey.

Sincerely,

Chris & Marjorie Sherman
Lexington, SC

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the update on Joyce, she looks good and relaxed and ready to go. Sure do miss your daily updates, I check every day to see if you wrote something. Can't wait to read the books, and to see where trip#3 will take you. Hope the lads don't get too soft and lazy with all the rest they are getting. Take care and stay safe. Margie

Hi Bob,
Thank you so much for the updates on Joyce and Doc! It was really nice to see pics of them and to here about their new owners and their new lives. Joyce looks absolutely stunning and very happy. It was definitely in her best interest to engage in a less stressful physical life. Am sure she still wants to "work" but probably like all of us, she accepts that we just can't do everything we use to be capable of doing. Aging does sometimes slow us down. I know that you have a lot going on with your writings and your journey, so do appreciate the time you took to bring those updates to us. Thank you.
Linda (New Hampshire)
