Glad you enjoyed your recent visit to Seattle! Somehow I had missed the original report so it was interesting reading.

There's rumor of another tunnel system from the old days in Seattle. There was a cable car that ran up the really steep Madison Avenue (which you may have noticed when you took the ferry)and all the way out to Lake Washington. The (former) Engineering Building at Seattle University just over the crest of the hill was the machinery building that pulled the cable. Supposedly, there's a tunnel under Madison Ave down to the ferry terminal. When I went to school at Seattle U, there was a recently built concrete block wall where the entrance to the tunnel would have been. In the last 10 years or so, the Engineering Building was converted to the School of Fine Arts. When I walked through the building, I didn't even recognize it so any evidence of tunnel entrance is probably gone.

Oh, and for the record, the comments you got about the umbrella were right on the money. I'm a native of the Pacific Northwest and I've NEVER owned one! Actually, since I'm tall they scare me. People dashing around without looking and my eyes at just the right height to get poked out :)

Thanks for all the wonderful reports over the years. You guys do an awesome job writing about your adventures! I know whenever I see a new story, I'm going to be stuck for an hour reading it and looking at all the pictures.

The Ford plant trip was awesome. When the plant is shut down is the best time to see anything. I worked on a project for Ford in one of their plants a few years back. The noise was horrific, as was watching people work on the assembly line. We had proposed a system to test heater blower assemblies before they went into the car. I watched a guy whose job it was to put a foam gasket on a piece of plastic and dab 4 nuts with a dot of paint to show they were there. Every 10 seconds. For 8 hours a day. For the rest of your life. Hard to imagine, but I guess it would leave most of your mind free to think about other things...if any of it was left.

if you take noobs, awesome. if not, cool too. take more video. ^_^ enjoy.

Hey I was looking at the photos from Abbott Hospital and they made me so happy I went to the hospital back in 2006?
And I fell in love with the place didn't take and photos at the time and it's great to see the ones that are up there,
I also found Tony Z.'s medical records I also thought that that room was one of the more moving moments of the journey, he had
acute brain infection.
thought you might be interested in hearing that.

I live close to an abandoned building. It's very run down and I don't know if it's safe to explore but I thought I'd share because your website is so awesome.
This place is in Basset Creek Park along Glenwood Ave. where it crosses the railroad tracks. As I said before, it is very run down. The windows are broken and access is easy as far as getting inside. I biked there once with two friends but we didn't go in. They were too freaked out by the sign that said it was illegal to trespass. It is also right next to a water company (there is a spring that runs under Golden Valley somewhere) that is still in business as far I know.
I am not sure if trains still run on the tracks but that's another risk (not such a big one). If you do decide to check it out, be extremely careful. I don't know how far you could explore or what there is to explore but it's definitely interesting to me. Thanks!

I was employed at the Cambridge State Hospital back in the early 90s. It was great seeing the old photos of it. One Sunday afternoon I had a gigantic nutjob chase me down the hallway there after he flipped out because his mother didn't come to visit. That sucker must have been 6"5 and about 230. I had to sprint the length of one of those old hallways while at the same time trying to get my keys out to open the ward door. Good times!!

Just on a whim I remembered this website I had looked at a while back for updates and an even longer time ago before that. I have even exchanged emails with one of you some time ago. You always have good adventures. Hopefully when I'm home again I'll have the itch like you to find a place to explore. Until then I'll have to settle with clearing ancient African bunkers... Great job with the reporting.

I've also wondered about that entrance at the base of Ft Snelling. The last time I was there, I didn't have any lights or proper attire for 'splorin, but the tunnel seemed to go back at least a little ways. Anyone ever seen how far back it goes? Also, ur site is teh shit.

Oh my god, oh my god. I get so worked up every time I look at this site. I am literally sitting on the edge of my seat, wishing it wasn't 1230am, wasn't 20 degrees out, and wishing my brother was home so he could come with me and I could GET IN THOSE TUNNELS! It is my life's dream to do even a fraction of the exploring you guys do. Seriously. I could die happy if I could just get into the Hamms Brewery. Aaagh. I'm hyperventilating now. And hyper-salivating. Just know that you are my heros (along with Motts at www.opacity.us [another Fabulous explorer])

Ok. Breathing. So, what I just wish to say is...
You guys are so damn lucky. I wish I was you.

You lucky bastards. Keep it up. This is important photographical documentation of historical sites relevant to the Twin Cities past. It's pretty exciting to see a lot of these photos as they are often of places long since shut off from the public because they are private property or (more exciting) too dangerous.

Historical Ft. Snelling may be a place worth poking about. Long since overgrown, there should be doors at the base of the fort's outer walls that probably just lead into the fort, but I've wondered if they may lead to rooms built into the hillside on the way up to ground level and long since abandoned or possibly even caves, etc. You never know.

Thank you and good luck!

Hey this is Slim Jim. I just wanted to let you know that I'm still out drinkin' beer and having a good time in the tunnels. Today I tried to walk across a board in the water but it broke so I got soaked up to my neck and my cell phone is dead now but it's all worth it because I was able to explore the sublevels of the power plant which I havne't been inside for 6 years, seriously. It's been a while since I had a real adventure like this. Max give me a call if you want to do something exciting one of these days. I'm still around, just not as crazily looking for action as I used to be. Other, perhaps more lamer, things, are keeping me busy.

Later,
