I am trying to trace my family tree, the family name was Jamaiker and I believe my ancestors came from Courland (kurland). My great grandfather was Francis Jamaiker but I am having trouble tracing.the line back from him. It is thanks to yourself and others that the information is out there at all and I shall gratefully use that information to trace my ancestors as far back as I can,

I am new to this search, and not sure of so much information. I did however find through another site, marriage records of my grandmother and grandfather, a great uncle, and a great aunt. I think since those records are on file that there must be a way of finding their births, and census information that would include other members of my family. So, I am just beginning and I will be traveling to Riga this summer to hopefully find some records there too.

I have found your sites through Googling my family name of Bartak. I am very excited, as my family came from Druya and we understood that that this was in the Vilna Guberia. We have been able to find relatives of those members recorded in the Lithuanian State Archives in the late 1800s. It now appears that later on, Druya was incorporated into the Disna district, and I have found a cousin of my great grandfather in your birth list of 1908. My great grandfather remarried after losing his wife in a pogrom, and we have a photo of the family with his new wife and 2nd lot of small children probably born after 1905. we have been wanting to find out the second wife's maiden name, and hopefully this may now be possible. I have also found the list of my grandfather's children of his first wife, in your list of 1897, which confirms the oral records from my late grandfather and my father, his son. Thank you so much for your work.
