Well done on setting up this site, a great idea. I'm lucky enough to still live in good old PD, although it's lost a lot of its character, Woolies closing down didn't help!

On reflection I did not take advantage of my Grammar School Education, but all things considered it did give me a good basis for adult life. Leaving PDGS I gained suitable employment constructing, with others of course, the Oil Refinery at Angle and later Milford Haven. When I was 19 years old I moved to Cardiff where I started my career in the Police Service completing 32 years. I retired on Pension for other pastures, and since 2001 have lazed away the days. It is nearly 56 years since I entered the gates of Pembroke Dock Grammar School meeting the headmaster Mr. Roland Mathias, who was some three years later was to give me 'six of the best' for mitching school to watch Trevor Ford play for Cardiff City against Pembroke Boro. I remember it as though it was yesterday. I look forward to reading all those memories of school life that members will share. Congratulations to you Greg, Clifford, David and Lauren for initiating this excellent website and long may it continue.

This is awesome!! Congratulations to you Greg, Cliff, Lauren and David for getting this site up and running.
I lived in Llanion and attended Llanion CPS. Later moved to Bush St., where my parents ran the wallpaper shop. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at PGS much to the detriment of my education, but Idris Cleaver was instrumental in ensuring I pursued the career we`d talked about in my third year!!
So, Bristol has been my home and workplace since 1961, tho` home, for me, is still PD. I get great pleasure in renewing old friendships from the `good old days` and I look forward to saying hello to old friends and classmates through this medium and at the next reunion.

Like Cliff I too started my education at Albion Square then on to the old 'County' Grammar School in PD. Picton Place, where I lived, was at the top of town and everyday a walk down 'The Mount' through the park and straight into school was a good start to the day. After the move to 'Bush' my brothers and I simply had a flat walk along the 'Top Road' which was a bit more scary because of all the traffic. This wide road was the PD version of the M1 in our minds.
I was undistinguished at school but benefitted greatly from the all-round education and will always be grateful for the wonderful start to life this gave me. We had some good old fashioned teachers, some of whom are an influence to this day - I would single out Idris Cleaver as the man who 'kick-started' my life.
I have really enjoyed the reunions and I hope we will have another soon. My very best wishes to anyone reading this. Greg

I started my education in Albion Square, before entering PDGS in 1954. For various reasons, I repeated my first year and clearly remember walking up to Bush with John Nash and the rest of my class, carrying a chair!I left in 1962 and have kept in contact with many of my school friends - including some members of staff - ever since. Those years spent in PGS have positively influenced the rest of my life.

Glad to be the first to test the new Guestbook. Thanks Cliff & Greg!

My sisters, brothers and me have wonderful memories of our years at PGS. We lived on North Street and my parents were Josie and Gilbert. He worked at Dewhurst, the butchers on Queen Street. I don't know how they did it, even with scrimping and saving for years, but we all got a bicycle when we each passed our 11 Plus.

Hope to see others at any do's that might be in the works.

Regards, Dave Brown
(Pamela's brother, she's 166 in the photo. Douglas didn't enter until the next year. Graham and Michelle even later. They are all fine!)
