Well - that's the CV bit done ! Married Julia in London in 1968 and still together living in East Hertfordshire. Our sons Owain and Huw were both born in South Africa in the 1970's and returned with us to the East Herts area in the 1980's where they attended local schools. I resigned my job in early 2003 and have now become a part-time freelancer. I now work because I wish to rather than because I have to - it does make a difference !

My interests these days include sailing, travel and music. I'm getting into genealogy and trying to trace my father's and mother's families.

Love to hear from anybody out there from Pembroke Grammar School - remember Phant ??

I went to East End School, Pembroke, where Cledwyn Nicholls was a wonderful, formative influence for me. Unfortunately, I only went to Pembroke GS for one academic year as my parents moved to England (Northants)in 1956-much to my chagrin at the time.

We always spent our holidays in Pembroke and I returned to live in Pembrokeshire in 1964; however, after a mild flirtation with the police and a job at a local oil refinery I left to work in London. Thereafter, I studied at UEA, Oxford University and Brunel University, and worked as a social worker, senior local government manager and latterly as a consultant.

I am now retired for the most part, and I have returned to live in Pembs at Lamphey, where my mother was born.
I have one son, Rhys, who lives in Milan but no grandchildren yet that I'm aware of.

Joined the County School in PD from Albion Square. Living in Canada since 1966 except for a brief stay,1977 - 1980,in Pembroke. We get back to Wales almost every year and stop by Greenfield Garage to see Stuart. Thanks to Gwyn Jones I connected with Cliff last year the 3 of us enjoyed a few bevvies at The King's Arms. Hopefully we'll have a few more this June. Great website, thanks for sending the link, Cliff, I owe you a pint. To update my resume - Valerie, from PD, and I have our own financial planning company, two children and 5 grandchildren. Look forward to meeting more old friends from PGS. Glad to see Arthur Brady from Carew signing the Guest Book.

Comments:

I joined PDGS from Pennar Primary School where we were coached for the eleven plus by the infamous Mrs Rees. Her teaching methods relied on rolling up our trouser legs and slapping us on the thigh. It worked though, and I ended up PDGS. Not such a good idea a few years later when we had to carry books and chairs up the steep path to Bush. When the school farm opened I transferred to 4Tech and the year after became a boarder in Bush House. The housemaster at Bush was Ren Hewish who was ably assisted by John Bevan. They were great in that they ceated a co-operative community from a disparate bunch of lads (not least when John caught us reading the Sunday Tabloids in Pembroke Station Waiting Room when we should have been in Church). We benefited from Ren's oratory in his study the following morning. Another great influence in school was Mr Islwyn Griffiths who taught me that there was a wide world out there. From school I went to Leeds University. Then to HMC&E as an excise officer eventually to an international accountancy firm. I retired in 2002. After retirement I was persuaded by a friend to do some consultancy work. I'm still trying to retire.

I made a lot of friends in school so it's great to have this sight up and running so that we can get back in touch and find out what we are all up to.

definitely!

Comments:

There were 2 Christine Lewis's....I'm the one from Pembroke Dock, Sister of David Lewis. I attended Albion Square like many PG School pupils. I have fond memories of Dillwyn in the 11+ class - daily spelling, mental arithmetic and general knowledge tests, but we also knew that he 'got' most pupils through the 11+...great guy! I loved PGS, although not a particularly academic pupil. But all that sport + athletics - Oh Joy! We had some fantastic times home and away playing hockey, rounders, cricket, tennis and attending School, County and National sports. The family moved to Cwmbran in 1960 - they took me with them ....screaming and kicking! I've lived in Cheltenham since applying to the Civil Service (GCHQ)aged 18 i.e. 45 years! Married to Richard, with 1 Daughter Samantha and two Grandchildren Sophie and Spencer, I have worked at The University Of Gloucestershire in Resources/Facilities Management for almost 15 years. A PGS school reunion (Chris Morgan contacted me following a chance meeting at UoG) about 4 years ago put me back in touch with Cliff, Rosalie, Roger, Dick, Terry, Shirley, Gwyn and many more. Our regular get-togethers in the Old Kings Arms in Pembroke (you MUST try the restaurant there)have provided some of the happiest times reminescing and discussing the next reunion...the setting up of a website. So here we are and what a wonderful achievement it is - many, many congratulations to all of those clever and determined people involved. As a result I hope some of us will meet up again soon for another reunion, before we all get too old eh? Best wishes Chris

Comments:

Passed the 13 plus and went to Bush in1956 at same time as Tony Haggar so we were 1 year older than our fellow pupils. Lived in Pennar,P.D. Was very happy at Bush and met up with Roland Matthias 4 years before he died at age 93. He was living in Brecon for 40 years while I was in Hay-on-wye and I did not know. I remember the lads who boarded at Bush house and who were farmers sons and others . I loved the Eisteddfords and the tennis and basket ball but hated hockey-- too cold and too rough for my liking!!The school dinners were great-always a roast.I left in1959 as R.A.F. base closed and we went to Brighton. Went into bank- hated it. Went into Civil service for 5 years then did primary school training. LOved college but found teaching 42 children in outer Birmingham boundary with I.Q's of below 100 and of 130 very hard. These were the days after the Plowden Report and what a mess that made of education. Married 1970, had 3 children in 2 years now have 4 grandchildren. Wish it were 50 years ago.

Wonderful achievement. Well I made the most of my time in Bush, played sport etc it was the bits with the pens and paper I didn't get on with.
Progressed through the Engineering Construction Industry, worked in the Middle East, Europe (West & East) and am usually now part of the Project Management Teams.
Have to keep working, married twice I have two sons (both from the second)who are the apple of my eye, but I must admit I have the same conversations that my parents held with me!!
By the way my sister's name is Awena.
Congratulations to you all, a job really well done.

Congratulations on this initiative!
Like others,I "progressed" from Albion Square J.M.I. to Pembroke Grammar, where I then failed to take advantage of the opportunities the school afforded all pupils.Having such a "good time" one year, that I was "selected"to repeat it!!!
Leaving School in 1964,I was fortunate to gain employment in a Company offering secure (at that time)career opportunities ,which I was able to take advantage of,having learned from my past mistakes at "The Grammar School"
I remained with that Company for 39 years, working in various locations, until my Retirement in 2003.
Unfortunately,I lost contact with many former colleagues during that time, and now look forward to "catching up"via this medium, Friends re-united, and at future "re-unions"in the not too distant future.
