Mostly enjoyed my time in PGS (where has the Dock part come from?)where there were some excellent teachers.
Left the UK in 1977 after doing teacher training in Caerleon College and haven't been back since except for holidays. Taught in Services schools since then in Gibraltar, Germany, Nepal, Brunei and now Belize. I keep in contact with old school friends when I go to stay in a caravan that I have in Angle and sometimes meet up with people at the Pembroke RFC bar in the St David's Centre in Cardiff on international days.
Well done to all of those involved with setting up this website. I hope to be in touch with some ex-pupils soon.

I was educated at Stackpole primery, Pembroke Grammar, Swansea College of Technology and finally Springburn college of Engineering, Glasgow.

Did't really enjoy school but did stay until the bitter end in upper 6th!
Subsequently managed a BSc and an MBA so it couldn't have put me off education altogether.

Strange that except for some hockey and gymnastics I wasn't that keen on games/PE but have been skiing twice this year and love sailing and windsurfing. Somehow I find time to work and to keep an eye on my two grown up children.

Great site; the mouse highlight was very useful in remembering names.

I do remember some of the people who have signed in as guests and i'm going to try to make the reunion on 1st May. We had one sometime in 1997 - Alyson (Rowlands) wore her blazer - I seem to recall her trying to persuade me to wear school uniform, St Trinian style but I couldn't find a skirt as short as the ones I wore to school, however I did manage to find my prefect badge.... now where did I put it?

See you all in May, Wendy

I first lived in Pennar where I attended the local village school and passed the 11+ there for PGS.
We then moved to Manorbier where I had to travel about 9 miles to school. My father was in the army and we moved to 37 Dewing Ave. Manorbier from 123 Miltary Road Pennar. I still have the group panoramic school photo from 1960 showing all the staff and pupils (showing Mr Roberts as Headmaster and I think 'Hannah' Hughes (Deputy ?). I left in 1961 when we came back to Newcastle and I continued my education at Rutherford Grammar School.

I do hope that is permissable and that I won't get drummed out of the Cubs for this . . . but this is my 2nd entry.

My first entry was made when I first discovered this site on 11-Apr-09 (Guest #103). Since then I have had a lot of correspondence with the builders, movers and shakers of this wonderful and evocative site. As I have read the accounts of those other guests who have logged on, and looked at the articles posted on the site - I have been truly moved and astonished by the wealth of talent that emanated from the area and that was concentrated around this little school.

As I write this I feel very conflicting emotions, among them a sense of loss for times past; regrets that I did not make better use of the facililties and opportunities that presented themselves; humility when I read what wonderful things others have done; pride when I think that I too was a member of PGS.

I also feel an overpowering sense of loss when I remember my late father (Tom Davies - Shoe Shop, Meyrick Street) and my late aunt (Molly Davies - Laws Street, teacher at both the Coronation School and Pembroke Comprehensive) : both of whom were past pupils of PDGS in the late 1920s and early 1930s - and both of whom lived their lives and retirements in Pembroke Dock. I have been researching my family history and exploring the links with PD and the school and was surprised to find how influential my late Grand Father (E.B.Davies) was - among other things he had been a county councillor with responsibilies on the Education Committee in the late 1940s and early 1950s and was a Governor of PDGS until his sudden death in 1954. He is referred to with much affection in R.G.Mathias' Headmasters Report for 1954/1955.

This is (as I'm sure that all appreciate) pure nostalgia. The other event that I'm approaching with some trepidation is that of the Reunion on 1-May this year. Will we all look as we were when we at PDGS / PGS some 50 years ago - youthful and energetic, desirable and feisty ? Will I remember people's names ? Will anybody remember me ? Will anybody else turn up ? I look forward to seeing you all at that reunion - and remember that I'm still the same introverted, miserable old git that you see peeping out of the 1958 (#76), 1960 (#245) and 1962 (#249) photographs ! I still love music but I don't intend to torture you all with the violin as I was forced to in '50s and '60s.

Thank you so much to each and evryone of you for putting up with this soul-searching - contact me at paul_davies_uk@btinternet.com

I saw the report in the Western Telegraph and then this brilliant site. Recently got back in touch with Roger McCallum. I entered P.G.S. in 1956 and left at Easter 1962 to join the Pembrokeshire Police staying locally until retirement in 1995 when I became an LSA at Pembrokeshire College. Married Cynthia in 1970 and spend holidays visiting son and family in USA, and daughter and family in Spain.

Just re entering my e mail address samphirekate@hotmail.com.
Would love to hear from any of my year group as I seem to have lost touch with most people even though I have been back in Pembrokeshire teaching since 1980! I did teach in the same school as Dave Hay for most of that time and he still called me Kate which confused everyone.
Now retired from teaching but still working in education on a freelance basis and enjoying it very much.

Congratulations on an excellent website! I am not able to attend the 2010 Reunion, the dates clash with something else. Maybe I'll still be alive for another occasion!

I have a couple of dozen names to add to the 1939 group photo, to whom should I send them?

Kind Regards,
Jack Blencowe (1935-1942)

I would love to hear from classmates. Now live in the U.S. Still in contact with Ann McPhee (Bunting)who lives in Bristol. I remember moving to the brand new school from the old building in Pembroke Dock. It was a tough bike ride from Bush street to school, but still better than waiting for the bus. I was a prefect in Tudor. Acted in a couple of plays (still active in local community theatre)
Close friends of Margaret Morgan & would visit her in Neyland, using the old ferry across the Cleddau. I once beat her in Latin by half a point! Also good friend of Pat Jones who lived around the corner from us on Bush Street. Once ran into Margaret James at a pub in Pembroke when I was over visiting family. On subsequent visits to the U.K. I have driven by our school & managed to look at our class room as pupils had left for the day. Roland Mathias, our head master, used to scare me to death. Look forward to hearing from you

Left for Scotland in 1957, age 13. Moved to Swansea in 1961. Qualified as a Chartered Acountant and married to Linda in 1969. Two sons and five grandchildren. My father lived in Stackpole until his death in 2006 and I was down on a regular basis. I remember mw early years in Bosherston as the best of my life but of course I didn't think that at the time.
