Thank you so much to all of those who put such a tremedous effort into organising the wonderful evening last Saturday. The organisation might have seemed an unhill task at the time, but I can assure you that all your hard work paid dividends.

It was wonderful to see so many school frinds, most of whom I had not seen since 1964. Goodness me, how we've all changed and what stories we had to tell. It was sad and sobering to remember those who are no longer with us.

One of the thoughts that passed through my mind during the reunion was "How on earth could such a rag-bag load of youngsters like us (in 1957 !) grow up to be the solid, sober and dependable pillars of society that we obviously are today?"

Thank you again - I was really blown away. 'Til the next time . . . .

Many congratulations to all the Penvro team on a wonderful achievement on Saturday. It was a splendid occasion and I was only very sorry I had to leave at 10-30pm for my journey back to Aberystwyth. Indeed, I wish I could have stayed over and examined ALL the material on display.

After last Saturday most definitely

Comments:

The re-union last Saturday (1st May) was a really enjoyable evening and it was a privilege to meet up with so many former school mates. A gap of over 48 years hadn't changed much because underneath people don't really change. Everyone was so friendly & lovely. Averil & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and as we don't normally do re-unions this was a real acid test.

I really would like to thank through this website the outstanding work of the organisers. They were marvellous and their unstinting efforts must not go unrecognised. Everything went like clock work.

Here's to the next one!

I would love to hear from any of you & my new email address is pembrokedock@msn.com

All best wishes

Chris Morgan

Absolutely wonderful evening. Many thanks to all involved obviously a lot of time and hard work put into the reunion. Unfortunately I had to leave at ten which I was reluctant to do as I was having such a great time .I only hope I didnt miss to much. It was so great to meet up with my old mates and to know I was remembered and also that I remembered them.. Hopefully it will not be to long before we meet again.

Wow, May 1st: an action and memory-packed weekend. What a wonderful occasion: many, many thanks indeed to all the Team who put together such a dazzlingly successful event. Memories and laughter were plentiful during the Friday afternoon Bush site tour. How hard the organisers must have worked to "dress" the Cleddau Bridge function room: those school uniforms, the walls of photographs, the black and gold balloons, even the gold tablecloths...and the amazing constant slideshow of photos recalling long ago times! Those badges: how brilliantly helpful to navigate yourself through the crowds to find other contemporaries! The whole event brought back not just PGS memories but many of East End, Main Street, Orange Gardens and so on.
As for my past: I married Ken Deveson(1959-66),followed him round many RAF stations and thus taught in a range of primary, middle and secondary schools in England and Scotland. Retired now, which gives time for trips back to Pembrokeshire and to see the grandchildren in Cheshire and California...

Excellent reunion - just wish there had been more of the 60s lot!!! It was a lovely evening - although the queuing for the buffet reminded me of queuing up for school dinners!!! The photos were great and the slide show amazing. When's the next do?

Dick Roberts-Thomas, Thanks very much for organising my tickets

That was an amazing event as there were so many people that were familiar. My email is:

A.Dickie@mdx.ac.uk

I hate to say this because the organisation of that event must have been hard work but will there be other reunions in the future?

Best wishes

Andrew

Wow! What a night!! Thank you so much to all those wonderful people who must have worked tirelessly to create such an uplifting and joyous occasion. It was great to meet and talk to people I hadn't seen for years.
My only regret? That I hadn't seen the list of attendees earlier. It was only then that I realised I had missed people (e.g. Stephanie & Christine Maine - ex-WRAC like myself) whom I would loved to have spoken to.
Please, oh please lets do it again at some time in the not too distant future!!
Thank you to everyone who made it possible.

What an extravaganza !
I cannot get over the amount of dedication and sheer hard work which was put in by all those who engaged in the organisation of the formation and culminating in this wonderful event!
A real night of nostalgia.

I have been teaching in Hertfordshire for 36 years, 32 at the same school. My family still live in Pembroke and I am a regular visitor. I have recently completed a 238 mile walk in 11 days from Pembroke to Amersham raising money for the Parkinsons Disease Society. My older brother, Eric, who also attended the school, was diagnosed with the disease some years ago.
My schooldays were dominated by sport, I captained the 1st XV in my final year and Dennis Lloyd remains one of my heroes.

What a well organised event. All that IT work!

Green Grow the rushes Oh, made me laugh. We were only allowed to sing it on Speech Day, and then only to clap visitors out of the hall at the very end.

I did some research into the song not so very long ago and found that it was only sung in public schools! Another useless bit of trivia is that the Americans sang it at the battle of the Alamo. They sang it to keep their spirits up, but the Mexicans thought that they were singing Gringos instead of Green Grow. Hence the word Gringo.

Such a strange song with its roots in paganism. Who were the six proud walkers, the April Rainers and The Rivals?

We sang without thinking or questioning!!

Great get together, well done.

Mel

Left school in '66 and worked at the Texaco Refinery, Rhoscrowther for 37 years. I now do a little part-time work at the ASDA filling station in Pembroke Dock. Married for nearly 30 years with two daughters in their twenties, my wife Verity dispenses at Boots in Tenby. I socialise regularly with two ex teaching staff from the school Eifion Powell, with whom I played cricket for years at Pembroke, remember the dulcet tones sit down and shut up, and Harry Edwsrds who came here from Trinity Coll Carmarthen in the early seventies.
My brother John (Jack) who travelled down from Sully and I attended the reunion on 1/5/10 at the Cleddau bridge and had a great night, meeting so many people we both had not seen for years. We shared a table with the Brown family from Orange Gardens Pembroke namely Suzanne, Steve, Nancy and Councillor Melanie Phillips a niece. Suzie told me in confidence of course, how one day when playing cricket in the street Jack told her categorically that if he could not bat then they could not play because it was his set of wickets they were using!!!!!! He'll never live it down. Wonderful night and many thanks to those who carried out the arrangements.
