I was down in Mousehole, Cornwall, this morning doing my duty as the Poppy Appeal Organiser for the Mousehole RBL when I met a chap who questioned where I was from. I told him Pembroke! Before I knew it, he was at the Grammar same time as me and in the same classes! His name was Edward Bromhead. If you read the Edward, I was No 199 in the 1960 photo! I was known as Georgie in those long off days, but a pleasure to meet you again!

I attended Pembroke Grammar between 1964 and 1969 when my family moved to Cardiff. I retired as as a University Lecturer in 2010 and moved to Australia in 2018 as two of my three children had emigrated here. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.

I am presently in the process of finalising a document, intended primarily for my grandchildren, that describes what life was like in South Pembrokeshire during my childhood. I lived in Freshwater East from 1944 until I left to study at the University of Nottingham in 1957, where I subsequently spent most of my career involved in research and lecturing within the Civil Engineering Department of which I was head for two periods, going on to serve as Dean of Engineering and then Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Industry. I also worked as a private specialist consultant in Road Engineering. I am happy to renew acquaintances via email at: esfbun AT btinternet DOT com. Who remembers me? I mitched so much in 1962 that I ended up joining the Royal Navy in January 1963. Mother received a letter from the Phant (T C Roberts?) saying that if I did not return to school she would be prosecuted! I turned up when I had my first long weekend at home in naval uniform and went before the Phant. I was told not to come back! I went on and became a successful systems engineer (specialist) with Honeywell Control Systems until 2012 and left them just three months before my 65th birthday and set up a limited company to work for myself for another three years before finally retiring in March 2015! I can't say that I enjoyed the grammar school since I was bullied by teachers because I used to outgrow my uniform and had to wear civilian clothes! That was one of the reasons for matching so much!

Good looking back at the old photographs. After leaving school worked in the NHS as a psychiatric nurse in a number of different positions in both England and Wales. Had to finish through ill health but re trained as a Primary School Teacher from which I have recently retired. I was married for 30 years before my wife died of breast cancer.
