Daring November '56 to March '58, then Vigo, Dophin and submarines.Squid house "manager?" whilst on Daring. A happy lot on the Daring we were - even when we did the nuclear shut-down exercises. The "Oilies" didn't go much on that however.. I recall whilst visiting one of the Australian Darings (which were different from ours), that our guide told everyone that there was "A thirty foot wave behind the ship when it was at thirty knots". I had to take him aside and correct him as we'd never had a wave that large chasing us. Left the R.N. in'64, and came out here in '71.
I remember a lot of friends from that period on Daring. "Scouse" Souness, George Mayo, Charlie Partington (T.I.) and Charlie Campbell.
I'd like to hear from any of you guys.
Cheers.

Monday 12th July just got back from Liverpool where we were joined up with S/M Chri & Soapy Watson to celebrate S/M George Lewis 90th Birthday, a great week-end was had by all. George joined the D Boats when they only had WW2 Defender Class Destryers in the Association. Sadly there are only five members left who served on them in the Association. Please is there any body who seved with George on H.M.S.DECOY 1939--1941 Please make an old man very happy and leave him a message on the guestbook. Or if any body served on any of the Defender D Class in WW2 please view the guestbook and leave your name and details.
Thanks very much for looking.

Yours Aye
Mike Smith D Boats Secretary

PTI aboard Diana for her 1956 trip to the monte bellos. just discovered your site. On reading through discovered some mention of RMNS I was there from 1944 to 1948 then straght into pussers. Throughout your site the name
pemberton and Ganderton pop up from time to time. I seem to recall these names also from my days at RMNS. I notice from your membership that John Reed, listed as Tom Reed is a member of your assoc. I would like very much to regain contact with John and his good wife Yvonne. I would be happy for you to forward this request to him. We were on the Diana together and stayed in touch up intil 3 years ago.
Best wishes for your site, association and its future. It will be one stronger in numbers very shortly

Like Mr Sealy, I also have just heard about trhis website. I also served in DUCHESS 1954 to 1956 under Capt David Goodwin, who as an observer in a swordfish took part in the battle of Taranto, and 1st Lt Ken Martin, a wartime submariner of repute. I was just a lowly sub lt! I also served in DIANA, but in her last commission (1967-'69), following which she was fitted with exocet and an enclosed bridge and sold to the Peruvian navy. Small world!
