Daring November '56 to March '58, then Vigo, Dophin and submarines.Squid house "manager?" whilst on Daring. A happy lot on the Daring we were - even when we did the nuclear shut-down exercises. The "Oilies" didn't go much on that however.. I recall whilst visiting one of the Australian Darings (which were different from ours), that our guide told everyone that there was "A thirty foot wave behind the ship when it was at thirty knots". I had to take him aside and correct him as we'd never had a wave that large chasing us. Left the R.N. in'64, and came out here in '71.
I remember a lot of friends from that period on Daring. "Scouse" Souness, George Mayo, Charlie Partington (T.I.) and Charlie Campbell.
I'd like to hear from any of you guys.
Cheers.
