Researching Harrison family. Particular interest in William Hal Harrison, Captain, 47th North Carolina Infantry, Company I. Died in Lewiston, NC, 12/1885. Was teaching school in Bertie County area. Reported in the News and Observer to have been found dead in the woods near Lewiston and was with a group of woodcutters. Newspaper account advises he died of heart disease. Family accounts of his death is that he was killed because he was teaching black children to read and write. Attempting to find details of death. He was married to Zillie Burden Harrison at time of death.
