Very interesting site. It would be useful to have an inventory of available software that allows or encourages cutout animation.

If you exclude stop-frame software, it does seems as if LOTS of people search for information about software that uses either bones or pivots or both.

References to 'Toon Boom', 'Anime Studio', 'After Effects' and suchlike are frequent but are, of course, all very expensive for the amateur experimenter.

Other more useful and affordable (or free) suggestions seem to be 'CreaToon' (OK up to XP2 but useless with Vista and i'VE no idea if it still works with Windows 7, let alone the appalling Windows 8); 'CutoutPro', also known as 'Stickman' (not as intuitive to use as it might seem); 'Awesome Animator' (a project that died when it was 'Express Animator', was then resurrected but again seems to have stalled).

Beyond that I've seen references to people using Inkscape or Synfig, but always in conjunction with other software.

IS THAT ALL THERE IS?
This website would surely be one which could post a definitive list of useful softwares?
